And now for something completely different...

My two dogs react completely different each. One of them is sleeping since 5 o'clock (when they got food), the other one was very upset and calmed down just 20 minutes ago. Sleeping under my computer table.

The early deaths are too common in contrast to other sports, it can hardly be just "bad luck".
Hm, probably you are right though I wouldn't try to give percentages. Guerrero however is an extreme example because he was not in the risky group like Tenta or Yokozuna. Owen Hart died in an accident, Brian Pillman had a genetic heart failure (says bsww.de in his biography) and I don't know any more wrestlers who died in the last years, at least not rather young ones. But steroids are always there, that's right.

My mother lives on the 8th floor of a big house and feels a little unsafe. I don't think anything will happen but the sound of the wind there was well audible even though the phone.

I will take a bath now.

I think an high Building is one of the safest place during a storm, but i guess your mother wouldn't agree with that so easily. :D
I'm on the seventh floor, bur, well, it's almost over here, it wasn't that strong, just a few trees gone down in the neighborhood.

I just listen to WDR2. In Lüdenscheidt the fire brigade can't handle any more problems, they are just blocking whole streets because it is too dangerous even to free the streets of the fallen trees. They concentrate on real emergencys like people stuck in their cars.

Hell yeah hi!
I've just discovered this thread in the signature of some guy =)
Being a great Monty Python maniac i jast had tu use this opportunity to participate =)

Considering the "hurricane" in the News they just said, that in Heidelberg some guy was killed, cause of death was a tree falling over directly on to hi car...
poor guy.

Anyway, I hope you guys got through it well. have a nice day, and keep on rockin'

Ps: and so we know that the earth is banana-shaped XD

And another wrestler dead..Bam Bam Bigelow was found dead in his room, however the cause of his death is yet unknown. Most of you won't probably care for wrestling, but I'm a huge fan and Bam Bam was my first favorite so I'm pretty down right now. People tend to glorify people posthumously, I will leave this to others, for me there's not more to say but RIP Scott "Bam Bam" Bigelow.

Read that too this morning. BamBam always impressed me with moves you wouldn't expect on a 300 pound wrestler.

Didn't watch Wrestling for a long time now but I read the stories on bsww.de.

brilliant idea!

I think I'm going to follow this thread since i enjoy speaking english very much, too.
@drago guess not much has changed since you left school, as we still have to read romeo & juliet for the a-levels coming up.... (O romeo, romeo, wherefore art thou romeo  )

i run diablo in german language btw although its nonsense as everybody uses english abbreviations... its a language of itsself actually...

guess i'll have to take the time to read through the postings and catch up with your discussion at some point :)

so long

You're welcome to join in ;)
The last postings were mostly about wrestling, something I have to admit having not the slightest idea of
Just feel free to drop in another topic. There's always someone with some thoughts about it, I'm sure^^

Greets,
Mobbel

highrunes^^

whoops, wrong thread. well i can honestly not think of any worthy topic atm i'll just go to volleyball practice and check what's happened afterwards. keep me up to date ;)

edit: any native speakers around by the way?

It's so weird.
I constantly catch myself using english expressions when talking to my buddies, or even my mother, simply because I'm so used to them, because I watch to much Veronica Mars. Which is btw. the best show US TV has to offer right now (except maybe heroes (which I don't watch)).

So any of you guys that lives in a non english-speaking enviroment, does this thing happen to you too?

Never ever^^
But just because I'm highly convinced of the beauty of german language. Therefore, I have a ...well, you could call it a bet... with a friend of mine. We have to pay 10 ct. when using an english expression while having a conversation in german. There are only some excuses possible when there's actually NO german expression to cover the meaning. And that pays off after a while (well, after you lost approximately 10 Euro-Dollars^^). You get more used to using your mother tongue and it widenes one's vocabulary to quite some extend.
So, I'm for strictly seperating languages. Mixing up is a bad thing to do since it sounds just ugly. It's better to speak proper english OR german and describe the meaning of an unknown vocabulary then to interchange vocabulary. Take it as a training in vocabulary and/or capability of expression.

What a nice poem! Thanks a lot
It really made me laugh! I managed the first verse but then I had to think too much ;)
Forwarded it to my mother. She's an english teacher, so maybe she'll be able to read at least 3 verses aloud^^

Kudos to anybody who manages to get even the first two verses right.

Thanks a lot, I while try to read that one aloud at the next poetry slam around here. Made the first verses without stopping for wrong pronounciation.

Here is another great essay about language, but this time about the german language and its for english people great awefulness

my mother is an english teacher too, btw ;)

in Bremen (ATSV 1860), 3rd Division (Regionalliga), Diagonal/A
see my signature. you play too?

I used to play Volleyball for 20 years. Highest was "Verbandsliga". "Regionalliga" is quite good.

Had to stop the sport because my knees are worn out.

That's always the case, I guess. It's what separates the pro-players in sports who make their living with it from the others. My cousin was (or is) a really good soccer-player. She was in for the national team but then her knees were completely wasted so she had to quit. Almost the same with one of my best friends, volleyball player actually. Regarding talent, he could be in a really high league. But his knees would not stand all the stresses...
I hope your knee's will last for a long time, Showdown ;)
How are yours, drago? And have you generally quit sports or do you still do some?
