I just stumbled over a sale on play.com, they offer a huge amount of DVDs etc quite cheaply, so if you want to force yourself to listen to English audio tracks and have a credit card you might find a good bargain there. Although I think most German DVDs have an English language track anyway.

I think, as you stated, that most DVDs available in Germany have at least the original language on it. Since most people only watch Hollywood-movies, this should cover mostly english. Although, most fun can be gained by watching a movie of unknown content in, say, norwegian with a polish subtitle... It's not always easy to get a grasp on the meaning

Ah... finally back from Oldenburg. 4 hours of stormy, rainy, ugly Highway driving, average speed 70 km/h and my eyes are getting fuzzy from the wiper.

In Northern Germany the storm was strong enough to force me to strongly hold the steering wheel. Somewhere in that area a strong gust of wind managed to tip over an empty lorry. Full stop on the highway for some hours. Luckily not for me but my own ride was just enough for one day.

I'm exhausted now so I'll go to bed.

Pff, I _hate_ shopping. But I watched "Good bye Lenin" with my boyfriend last night, and it was so good I decided I want my own DVD (having borrowed this one from a friend). Then "A beautiful mind" with Russell Crowe and the game "Titan Quest".

I read this morning on tagesschau.de that almost all over Germany there were gale warnings. Here in Cambridge it was very windy, but luckily I had the wind in my back when I cycled home. It seems to have quietened down completely by now though.


My task for the coming months is to teach my boyfriend some German before we go and visit my parents together. His last girlfriend was German too, but they never put any effort into his language skills, but it is quite funny to find out he knew already "Mist!" (he loves Bernd das Brot!), "Küß mich, Schatz!" and "Kein Bock". Unfortunately this is nothing you can build a conversation up on, so let's see what else he can learn (he is dyslexic, so he prefers not to have things written down, that would further confuse him).


I don't know why it popped into my head just now, but all of a sudden I remembered the word ghoti, enjoy reading!

Hi there everybody and greetings from the nice and warm Melbourne/Florida.

I am currently in a trainingcamp with the crew team of Columbia University. New York in january is usually not very nice for rowing, and the Harlem Riven sucks. Well anyway, we had some pretty strong winds here today too. Rowing this orning was not much fun with super strong head on the way back...
but the afternoon was off and we went down to the beach ^^. Its amazing how warm the ocean is around here even in January. Due to the winds the waves were pretty big. Unfortunately I did not have a boarde with me, but surfing was definetily possible. But just riding on the waves with a strechtched body worked fine enough for the fun.

I will have to check the surroundings of our house when I get home from work as long as it is daylight. I also need to check the eaves gutter of the winter garden as it is always full of leaves and there will be a lot of water on our roof today.

My only preparation was to do my daily run not in the afternoon but right after getting up. Later this day there's the prognosis of cataclysmic rainfalls and wind gusts of an estimated 150kph. Unfortunately, I have an appointment at fourteen-hundred, so I will have to leave the house when the gust front is about to hit with all its might...
