I thought about an opening post yesterday. When I thought about links to the netiquette and other ressources in the thread i saw that we don't have anything in english to be linked.

At the moment we have to translate everything of our own and keep that in the opening thread. First post must carry links to the other posts in the thread whch contain helpful information.

Does anyone feel appointed to translate the netiquette? Other possibility is: Copy one of an english page and fit it to the one here.

I will write a pm to destitute this evening, if no one disagrees with the following

Description: guides, information, links, chat and much else in English language

and in case he wants a german description: Guides, Informationen, Links, Unterhaltung und vieles mehr in englischer Sprache.
 
That's fine with me.
I'll also translate some stuff, but I'm a little short on time, last year at school, teachers are all hyped, because we don't know enough etc.
 
I'm alone at home for a week, my friends are away, I have at least 2 weeks until I can start my civil service, and maybe I won't get the flat in Regensburg, so I don't have to busy myself with moving.

So, I'm game.

OK. I don't know how fast Desti is when he has my PM so we should do the first threads here in this thread. Copy/Paste is no problem when the forum is ready. So if anybody likes to do something, feel free to start.

How about a "who am i" thread in the forum? Something like the "that's me" thread.

I think I gonna start to translate my Burner-Guide (see signature). But this is very special content. Would you prefer, that I translate some more general stuff first?
 
I've finally made it to Berlin and got a WLan hotspot in reach of my apartment.

Could someone summ up what you where talking about the last days and especially what's planned now for the english-speaking clan.

I'd say, that for starters we only translate mainstream guides (trapsin, frenzy, fanazealot, hammerdin, sorcs, java and so on). simply to create a foundation for new, english speaking forum members. later we can do more "exquisite" content, things that you just don't do as a first or second char.

I would like to translate the FanaZeal Guide then. I will ask Ciraxis if its ok.

I would admit in general, but there is one point to consider: I would prefer to translate my own guides first just because I know what I need to write. That is accidentally Boner and Summoner so no problem, but that may be different for other Writers. So if somebody wants to do his own stuff first I wouldn't say no because for a start it is easier.

And another point to mind: Do not translate Guides without asking the original author for permission !!! Maybe he even wants to translate it himself.

Only if the author is not reachable it is allowed to translate it without permission. I wouldn't want anybody else translating my guides without asking me first so please ask for permission.

And I think we want a "work thread" to mark work in progress to avoid double efforts.
 
As the actual Forum may take a while to set up, you can open this Work Thread in the blub. I will move it to the English Corner when all is ready.

Hm...Boner and/or Summoner were the Guides I would have chosen :D...maybe I will someday soon even finish my WW-Guide and translate it stante pede :eek:.

Another point with guides: Maybe we should set links to guides on english pages as well. Amazon basin or diabloii.net are good sources for information. We do not need to translate guides when there are precious versions elsewhere.

I've read this thread from time to time and was just too lazy to contribute some sentences on my own.
But this last development (creating a separate clan forum) brought me to write some remarks:

The content of this TEC forum ("the english corner") will be nice with english guides and threads like "that's me" or other topics copied or better said, refreshed from the german speaking side.
I'd propose to bring also some hints or explanations how to use the broad variety of information linked on the mainpage. There are so much calculators, lists and so on, that can be useful and used although you're an english speaking visitor to this page. I mean, have a look at those really helpful lists!
Although the first sight of a german list of abilities, items, recipies or whatever might be frightening, you'll discover a lot of english terms - just because the roots of the game itself are american.
Of course, an english speaking visitor will be restricted in his usage of those lists, but maybe there are some functions, that can be understood - and then you'll have a pretty good publicity for your clan forum outside of this forum.

Okay, another remark I couldn't hold back:
I know the title of TwinYawgmoth's first posthunting thread:
"A nec at tec" :D
 
A lot of traffic in the forum leads to unexpected results on post submitting.
 
I don't know if desti adds an article but as stated above the name I wrote was "english corner", no T in EC

Should be an ec-nec then ;)
