And now for something completely different...

my mother asked me to order a cd from amazon, i think it was roger cicero. but i never listened to his music, and i strongly doubt that it would be my kind of music ;)
German swing. My music taste is quite wide-spread. So far I only avoid styles like death-metal or complete hardcore. I'm not a fan of monotonous techno or trance either, but sometimes a little rythym is fine.

holidays! finaly!
yeah, reminds me that I have to finish another essay until the 8th of Jan.

btw, i hear that there is a lot of fog in london/england right now, how bad is it?
we also have fog here (cologne). we just went home from bowling and from one second to the other we where like "wtf, where is the car in front of us?" (and the car was not more then 10 meters away).
Must be terrible, but I'm home. So I don't give a rats ass about London's weather, hehehe.

Sorry that I do not give a damn about what you talk about. I am just currently exmtremely pisse off that London heathrow is closed because of fog and tha my connection flight to Berlin is cancelled and that I am now to annoy British Airways to rebook my flight to some destination that will make me be in Berlin tomorrow afternoon.... whatever...

Sounds like a situation that nobody really wants or needs.

jep, now british airways new york told me the flight is not cancelled and that i just be at the airport 3-4 hours in advance and continously check the internet for changes in the flightplan... i could simply puke

A colleague of mine just told me his vacation flight on 28.12. was changed to one day earlier (27.12.) without a notice to the passengers. Delta Airlines ... :wand:

/Edit: I just heard in the news that the London airport didn't allow flights for three days now

There went something wrong with my plans as well. So I can't go to England however. But doesn't matter, useless drinking sounds wonderful ;)
No, but I hate fog ...somehow

That's anyway not a really weird problem like Riven's.

That is wrong. Heathrow cancelled a lot of flights, mostly domestic ones, because people still can travel by train to their destination. Stansted was almost not affected by the fog anyway, I left from there this morning without any problems which is really amazing if you know the quality of service Ryanair delivers usually.

Edit: Riven, is flying BA so much better than using one of the no-frills airlines, or is Heathrow more convenient for you, or did you get a good deal for the flight?

Hmm. Seems that some german radio networks doesn't tell us the complete truth

What the heck.

I wish you and your friends and family a nice Christmas Evening.

Yepp, merry christmas!

Besides the stansted express (which had bus replacement service, as usual), everything was fine when I flew home on the 17th. Only, the introduced an extra shoe security cheese ehh checkpoint. The water bottle collection at the x-ray hand luggage control was of formidable extent as well.

3 Kg more on my rips (way too much chocolate) I sadly have to spend today on work. Not enough holiday :(

But as there are 5 people only where normally there are 30 it is rather comfy here.

What will you do on New Year's Eve?

Me will have dinner with some friends but we must be at home before midnight. Our dogs hate rockets and get very frightened from the boom boom. So we can't stay anywhere else and we also can't take them with us.

Last year we went to the Prater. The year before we were friggin freezing our butts off on the Kahlenberg. I still have no clue where I'm heading this year. I hate that I can't go to all of the invitations, hehe. As my granny would say: "Man kann mit einem Arsch nur auf einen Kirtag sein".

I lost another 2kg, makes it down to 68kg (185cm) - something is wrong when considering that I had 85kg before I went to London - I'm dwindling, help!

How long have you been in London now? Sounds pretty much to me, more than 15 Kg lost.

Hey guys, a good idea to start a thread for practicing the english language :top:

Did you read some well-written english books which you can recommend to me ?

My english is good but far distant from really good ;), it would be nice if the language level is acceptable for a pupil who visits a gymnasium (Jahrgangsstufe13). I chose english as a ,,Grundkurs'' btw

I prefer books with a well-thought plot and interesting story, which contain a lot of excitement and action. I don't like love stories which are full of plates (right word for ,,Klischee'' ?,who cares i don't remember the other word for it and i'm too lazy to look it up now :D)

What was the last english book you've read the last time, could you recommend and what it is about ?

My first post in this thread
In diesem Sinne : ,,Now can come what wants'' (Uschi Diesel)

King does a great job, I've already read some of his novels, but I'm afraid of the length of them. I just want to start with a novel not longer than ~250-300 pages, because I'm not accustomed to read in another language. I will have to look up a few words and I think that could be a little bit annoying, if you consider a lenght of 500-1000 pages ;)

Argh sorry the ,,you'' was too much and nonsense ;)

Of course you aren't annoying, but the process of looking words up is :D

Thinner looks good for me btw

Start with the same author with whom I started to read in English: Piers Anthony!

(oh, I can hear drago's groans)

Well, I have lost enough words about him by now :D - he's the best, seriously. I can't get enough of him even after 50 books. Start with the Xanth series. It's worth it.

:hy:

Simon

Somehting else that you can read just nicely when you are traveling in the subway or something else is Roald Dale. His short stories are great and none are longer than 15 pages. "Kiss, kiss" is one of his books than I can recommend.

About New Years Eve... I will not to the Brandenburg Gate again. Its just way to crowded there and people are either full of shit or full of alcohol. So I will probably take my girl to a frinds palce to have a nice and rather quiet evening together.
